Global law firm Shearman & Sterling hired L&K Partners to complete a full gut renovation and restack of its 340,000-square-foot corporate office located in New York City. We partnered with Shearman & Sterling to build an intelligent, human-centric work environment, with a building approach that seeks the best outcome for employees, local communities, and the planet. 

 The office spans 12 floors serving Shearman’s desire for innovative collaboration areas, while also housing the traditional requirement of private office space for lawyers and clients. Driving home Shearman’s sense of hospitality, is Shearman & Sterling’s café and lounge. The Sterling Café is an elegantly designed space with a full-service kitchen, barista bar, and library. An expansive reception area, featuring a staircase and high-end finishes, provides guests with a grand welcome.

 Highlighting Shearman’s approach to sustainability practices, the firm’s New York City headquarters is also on track for LEED Gold certification, a globally recognized symbol of sustainability achievement and leadership,  and is the first global law firm to commit to WELL at scale, prioritizing health and well-being across its entire real estate portfolio. Air filtration and ionization systems are incorporated showcasing the positive movement towards a more health-conscious interior environment for Shearman’s employees and guests. The project also utilizes power over Ethernet (POE) lighting in-lieu of conventional line voltage power for lighting, which is one of the largest activations in New York City. The POE lighting system will save on energy costs as well as reduce the company’s overall carbon footprint.
