L&K Partners worked with the world’s largest art museum and a New York City historical monument, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, in the renovation of their 13,000 sf European art gallery. The project required detailed planning to accommodate the removal and rehanging of over 700 historical, pre-modern European paintings, with minimal disruption to museum patrons as the Met remained open throughout the project. The full-cosmetic overhaul required demolition to walls, enhanced electrical systems, and a fresh paint scheme to modernize the exhibit. The reinstallation expanded the gallery by nearly a third, and offers a dynamic and revamped look at the European gallery.
