Brooklyn Bridge Park
Cultural
Brooklyn Bridge Park is an 85 acre park located on the waterfront adjacent to the Brooklyn Bridge, reclaiming Brooklyn’s industrial shipping piers into one of New York’s most dynamic waterfront parks.
L&K Partners was hired to lead construction on park expansion, including a new entry point, gatehouse, concessions, and public amenities.
An expanded plaza is foreground to a bosque of honey locust and ginkgo trees surrounding a new Pavilion. The Pavilion consists of public restrooms, a concessions space, and utility rooms all elevated above floodplain.
The new design features a large cantilevering canopy with social convening space and concessions below with views of the East River and the Brooklyn Bridge. The canopy will be covered with photovoltaic shingles that will make the project net zero for energy use with a LEED gold rating.
